This is our most unique offering of the season, a certified organic hand plucked Darjeeling. Sourenee is a 2nd flush tea and is graded FTGFOP1 (Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). Deliciously fresh, these organically grown and processed, premium grade leaves are from the second pick of the season. A beautifully silver-tipped clonal leaf, Sourenee has a hint of sweetness but it also has a spicy taste - an odd but a very interesting combination. A golden hued liquor which is exceedingly pleasant to look at and to taste. The Sourenee estate is situated in the picturesque Mirik Valley, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India.
The name Sourenee is a combination of two words: "Sour" – a kind of tree growing in this region that has some medicinal value and "Rani" which indicates ‘Queen of the Valley.' The estate covers an area of almost 340 acres and at altitudes ranging between 2300 feet to 3300 feet. The scenic beauty of the Estate and its surroundings are unparalleled with an abundance of exotic flora & fauna. The Sourenee Estate is more than 100 years old and has yielded quality teas that has made the estate very popular amongst tea lovers all over the world. Old tea shrubs are systematically being replaced by new clone plants in stages to improve the productivity and enhance the quality of the teas. This garden is mainly fed by rain-water, which is available for nearly 8 to 9 months a year, irrigation facilities being extended to the areas required. To satisfy the need and preference of the growing fraternity of health conscious tea drinkers, Sourenee Tea Estate has successfully completed the Organic Certification Process and has been producing Organic Tea since April, 2009.
